“The Green Bay Packers Part Ways with Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell”
The Green Bay Packers have released linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, as announced by General Manager Brian Gutekunst on Wednesday.
Gutekunst expressed appreciation for Campbell’s contributions both on and off the field during his time with the Packers. He acknowledged Campbell’s impact on the team with his performance and leadership, as well as his involvement in charitable activities within the community. Gutekunst extended well wishes to Campbell, his wife Nicole, and their family.
Head Coach Matt LaFleur also shared words of praise for Campbell, highlighting their longstanding relationship dating back to their time together in Atlanta. LaFleur emphasized Campbell’s leadership and professionalism, noting his significant role in the team’s success and in establishing standards within the locker room and on the field. LaFleur expressed ongoing support for Campbell and wished him continued success in the future, extending best wishes to his family as well.
Campbell, whose tenure with the Packers began in 2021, started in all 30 regular-season games and two of three postseason contests he participated in. He earned recognition as a first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press in 2021, a notable achievement for a Green Bay inside linebacker, marking the first such honor since Ray Nitschke in 1966. Campbell’s consistent performance included recording 95 or more tackles and multiple interceptions in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, a feat achieved by only four players in the NFL. He was also recognized as the team’s nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in the most recent season, honoring his exceptional contributions on and off the field. Prior to joining the Packers, Campbell played for the Atlanta Falcons from 2016 to 2019 and the Arizona Cardinals in 2020, after being drafted by the Falcons in the fourth round out of the University of Minnesota.
