NEW UPDATE: Mike Gesicki, agreed to a one-year deal during the free agency period.
The newly signed tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals, Mike Gesicki, agreed to a one-year deal during the free agency period.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the contract is valued at $2.5 million, with $400,000 guaranteed, representing the cap hit against the team’s salary cap.
Interestingly, Gesicki had received a one-year contract worth $4.5 million from the New England Patriots in March of 2023. Prior to that, the Miami Dolphins had placed a one-year franchise tag on him, valued at $10.93 million.
Despite the decrease in salary, it’s important to note that Gesicki’s capabilities and potential haven’t diminished. However, his performance may have been hindered by unfavorable offensive systems or challenging quarterback situations in his previous teams.
Gesicki now joins a group of veteran tight ends looking to benefit from playing alongside Joe Burrow, hoping for a salary boost in their next contract compared to what the Bengals offered him.
