“Amon-Ra St. Brown Aware of Season-Long Filming for Netflix Special”
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was already aware of being under constant filming throughout the season for an upcoming Netflix special.
This week, more information emerged about the sequel to “Quarterback,” which aired in July 2023. Jared Goff and several other prominent quarterbacks declined to participate in filming, prompting the production to likely pivot towards showcasing talented wide receivers this year.
Gabe Spitzer, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction sports, expressed enthusiasm for the transition from quarterbacks to receivers, stating, “The natural progression is from a pass to a catch, so we’re excited to dive into the ‘Receiver’ world after the success of our ‘Quarterback’ series.” He credited NFL Films and Omaha Productions for once again finding compelling athletes who would add depth to the drama both on and off the field.
The upcoming eight-part series, titled “Receiver,” will follow St. Brown, along with Justin Jefferson of the Vikings, Davante Adams of the Raiders, Deebo Samuel of the 49ers, and another Vikings receiver. Additionally, George Kittle, a tight end for the 49ers, will be featured in the summer.
Peyton Manning, in a statement, expressed excitement about collaborating with Netflix and NFL Films again, highlighting the opportunity to provide fans with unprecedented access to the lives of elite receivers. He emphasized the unique personalities, skillsets, and motivations of each athlete, echoing the storytelling approach taken with “Quarterback.”
