“Davis Joins Tar Heel Legends: A Legacy of Excellence”

Davis, alongside luminaries such as Lennie Rosenbluth in 1957, Phil Ford in 1978, Michael Jordan in 1983 and 1984, Kenny Smith in 1987, Jerry Stackhouse in 1995, Antawn Jamison in 1998, Joseph Forte in 2001, and Tyler Hansbrough in 2008 and 2009, stands as one of the select few Tar Heels to attain first-team All-America honors across all the recognized platforms by the NCAA for determining consensus first-team All-America. Since 1997, the Associated Press, UBWA, NABC, and Sporting News have been instrumental in this determination process.

Carolina’s legacy boasts a tie for the fifth position in NCAA annals with a total of 19 players who have achieved consensus first-team All-America status. These 19 Tar Heels have collectively earned this prestigious distinction 28 times, marking the second-highest tally in history, just trailing behind Kansas’ 32.

Acknowledged as the ACC Player of the Year, Davis played a pivotal role in guiding the Tar Heels to the ACC regular-season championship and securing a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. His remarkable performance sees him averaging 21.4 points and 3.5 assists per game.
