Parris Campbell agrees to a one-year contract following his time with the Giants.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, wide receiver Parris Campbell has reportedly reached an agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency on Thursday. Campbell is set to ink a one-year deal with Philly following his stint with the New York Giants last season.
At 26 years old, Campbell becomes a new addition to the Eagles’ receiving corps, joining DeVante Parker in complementing the likes of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Originally drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft from Ohio State, Campbell spent his first four NFL seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. Despite showing glimpses of brilliance, particularly in 2022 when he recorded career highs with 63 receptions for 623 yards and three touchdowns, durability issues plagued his time in Indianapolis, limiting him to just 15 games over his first three seasons.
However, after an injury-free 2022 season, the Giants signed Campbell to a one-year, $4.7 million contract in free agency. Despite hopes of becoming New York’s primary wideout, Campbell started only three of the 12 games he appeared in, finishing with 20 catches for 104 yards and no touchdowns.
With A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith commanding attention as top targets for quarterback Jalen Hurts in the Philadelphia passing game, the Eagles’ receiving group is undergoing significant changes. Alongside Parker, Campbell’s addition in free agency signifies a shift, while other receivers such as Quez Watkins, Julio Jones, and Olamide Zaccheaus remain free agents from last year’s roster.
Campbell’s arrival in Philadelphia presents an opportunity for him to contribute as a third or fourth receiver, adding depth and field-stretching ability to the Eagles’ offense. Despite his limited role last season in New York, Campbell has the potential to be more productive in the Eagles’ dynamic offensive system.
