According to reports, the Cubs are said to be traveling to Japan to kick off the 2025 season.
The Chicago Cubs and Dodgers have reportedly been informed privately that they’ve been chosen to kick off the 2025 season in Tokyo.
Given that the Cubs conduct their spring training in Arizona, it’s expected that they will return to Arizona following the series in Japan and begin their domestic season on the West Coast before heading back to Chicago.
Having attended the Cubs/Mets Japan Series in 2000 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I’ve always harbored a desire to revisit Japan and explore more of the country.
It seems fitting for the Cubs and Dodgers to be selected for this Japan Series, particularly with the presence of four of the sport’s top Japanese stars: Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Seiya Suzuki, and Shōta Imanaga. This event promises to be an excellent platform for these players to showcase their talents in their home country, alongside other MLB stars. Furthermore, it’s anticipated to mark Ohtani’s first pitching appearance since undergoing elbow surgery last offseason, provided everything goes according to plan.
I’m genuinely excited about this opportunity and will make every effort to attend the games in Tokyo and provide comprehensive coverage for you here at BCB. It’s particularly gratifying that the Cubs will be part of this event, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the first Cubs team to play in Japan. Once more details regarding dates become available, I’ll be sure to share them with all of you.
