VERY SAD NEWS: Collapse of Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore After Collision with Container Vessel”
In the late hours of Monday, March 25, the iconic Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore experienced a catastrophic incident when it collapsed following a collision with a container vessel at approximately 1:30 a.m. As a result of the collapse, a significant portion of the bridge fell into the Patapsco River, causing at least eight individuals from the bridge’s construction crew to fall into the water. Moments before the collision, the container vessel experienced a temporary loss of power, leading it directly into the path of the bridge.
The Baltimore Fire Department quickly classified the incident as a mass casualty event. Following the collapse, rescue crews initiated efforts to locate and assist individuals and vehicles that were detected in the water, searching for survivors amidst the aftermath of the tragedy.
