According to a report from Joe Tipton on Saturday, Jalen Shelley, who committed to play basketball for Arkansas, has requested to be released from his letter of intent with the Razorbacks.

This development follows closely after former head coach Eric Musselman’s decision to accept the head coaching position at the University of Southern California, just two days prior.

With Shelley’s anticipated departure, Arkansas is left with only two scholarship players remaining on the roster: Tramon Mark and Trevon Brazile. Additionally, they have incoming freshman Isaiah Elohim, a four-star guard, as their lone freshman recruit.

Hailing from Missouri, Shelley, a four-star recruit, had received offers from several schools including Houston, Kansas State, Tennessee, and Texas. He is recognized for his versatile playing style and ability to score from the perimeter. Shelley formally committed to Arkansas by signing his letter of intent on November 8th, 2023.
