Kevvie has devised a contingency strategy for the derby following another injury setback for the Broncos — Early Mail for Round 6.

In the lead-up to their highly anticipated Brisbane derby against the Dolphins this Friday night, the Broncos are bracing themselves for a significant setback. With the game fast approaching, the team has received news that a key forward may be sidelined due to injury.

According to reports, the Broncos’ forward lineup could be missing a vital player when they take on the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium. Jordan Riki, an integral part of the team’s forward pack, is facing uncertainty over his availability after rolling his ankle during training.

Coach Kevin Walters confirmed the news, expressing doubts over Riki’s ability to take the field on Friday. “Jordan was a bit better in the afternoon (on Tuesday), we’ll run him on Thursday at the captain’s run and see where he is at,” Walters stated. “Jordy is very doubtful. I don’t think he will play but it’s not my ankle and Jordan seemed a bit more confident in the afternoon, but we have to wait and see how he goes at the captain’s run. If he’s not fit enough, we’re not going to risk him.”

The potential absence of Riki poses a significant challenge for the Broncos, as they prepare to face off against a formidable Dolphins side. However, the team is considering alternative options to fill the void left by Riki’s absence. Kobe Hetherington is being considered for a potential promotion to the starting lineup, with last week’s impressive debutant Benjamin Te Kura and experienced campaigner Martin Taupau also being evaluated as potential replacements.

As the anticipation builds for this highly anticipated derby clash, all eyes will be on the Broncos’ camp to see how they adapt to the potential absence of one of their key players. With the Dolphins eager to make their mark in their inaugural NRL season, the stakes are high for both sides as they prepare to battle it out on the field.
