Red Sox have an ideal trade prospect in Brewers’ power hitter to fill Trevor Story’s void.

Despite having promising prospect Marcelo Mayer in the minors, it appears premature to promote him to the major league team. While his debut in Boston could happen this season, it doesn’t seem imminent.
Currently, Pablo Reyes and David Hamilton are holding down the position for the Red Sox, but further reinforcement is needed if the team aims to contend for a postseason spot. One potential solution could be acquiring Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames, who has been the subject of trade rumors for some time. Adames has had a strong start to the season for the Brewers, with two home runs and four RBIs in 11 games. His track record includes impressive power numbers, with 24 home runs and 80 RBIs last season, and 31 home runs and 98 RBIs in 2022.
Although Milwaukee has started the season well with an 8-3 record, completing a trade may pose challenges. However, considering that Adames will be a free agent at the end of the season and is unlikely to re-sign with the Brewers, it could be an opportune time for the Red Sox to pursue him. Acquiring Adames would provide a reliable option at shortstop in Story’s absence while awaiting Mayer’s potential promotion.
Despite the setback of losing Story, the Red Sox still boast considerable talent. Adding a seasoned veteran like Adames could further bolster their lineup, particularly given the void left by Story’s absence as a right-handed hitter.
