Oklahoma secures its second commitment of the day with the addition of 4-star defensive lineman Trent Wilson.

Recently, the Oklahoma Sooners have been on a successful streak on the recruiting front, securing commitments from three 2025 prospects within the past three days.

Wednesday proved to be particularly fruitful for Oklahoma’s recruiting efforts. Earlier in the day, they secured the commitment of 4-star defensive back Maliek Hawkins. Later in the afternoon, 4-star defensive lineman Trent Wilson announced his commitment to the Sooners.

Wilson, ranked as the No. 94 overall prospect and the No. 9 defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class by On3, opted for Oklahoma over offers from Ohio State, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

Hailing from Upper Marlboro, MD, Wilson stands at 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, boasting an impressive 6-foot-8 wingspan. His addition bolsters Todd Bates’ defensive line group. Alongside interior lineman Ka’Mori Moore from Lee’s Summit North (MO) and edge rusher Alexander Shieldnight from Wagoner (OK), Oklahoma is assembling a formidable defensive front for the 2025 recruiting class.

Wilson visited Norman in early March for Oklahoma’s “Future Freaks” recruiting event and had the opportunity to interact with Bates during his visit. Prior to his visit, Bates, along with Brent Venables and Miguel Chavis, visited Wilson at his high school, Dr. Henry Wise (MD), which also produced current OU senior wide receiver Jalil Farooq.

Wilson’s high school journey began at St. John’s in Washington, D.C., before transferring to Saint Frances Academy last spring, and then spending his junior season at Dr. Henry Wise.

Before announcing his commitment, Wilson had narrowed down his choices to Penn State, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and Oklahoma.

Two days prior to Wilson’s commitment, Sooners’ freshman offensive lineman Eddy Pierre-Louis urged Oklahoma fans to rally behind Wilson.

Wilson’s commitment marks the 13th addition to OU’s 2025 recruiting class, which was previously ranked No. 6 nationally by Rivals and 247 Sports. With the additions of Hawkins and Wilson, along with Shieldnight, Moore, safety Marcus Wimberly from Bauxite (AR), and linebacker Marcus James from Carl Albert (OK), the Sooners are strengthening their defense for the upcoming cycle.
