Iowa replacing Caitlin Clark with another superstar is nearly impossible
Iowa faces the challenge of filling the void left by Caitlin Clark’s departure.
Clark, widely regarded as one of the most dominant players in women’s college basketball history, is set to join the WNBA, leaving a significant gap in the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team. While replacing her scoring prowess won’t be easy, the Hawkeyes are making efforts to address the situation.
Former Villanova standout Lucy Olsen recently announced her decision to transfer to Iowa for her final season of college basketball.

“Embarking on new beginnings,” Olsen shared in a post on X, a social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
Although Clark’s presence will be sorely missed, Olsen brings her own impressive scoring abilities to the table. She concluded the previous season as the nation’s third-leading scorer, trailing only Caitlin Clark and USC’s JuJu Watkins. Olsen boasted averages of 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, consistently leading her team in scoring throughout the season.
This acquisition marks a significant move for Iowa as they seek to rebuild their roster following the departure of one of their most prolific players in program history. With consecutive appearances in the NCAA title game in recent years, the performance of Olsen and the Hawkeyes in the upcoming season will be closely watched.
