Once Jameis Winston’s NFL career concludes, he might find himself with a promising future in broadcasting.

Winston recently gained widespread attention when a video surfaced showing him on a boat engaging in a humorous interview with a fish.

“Inquiring minds want to know—why do fish flap when they’re out of water? They’re just trying to swim away,” Winston remarked before passing the microphone to the fish. “How does it feel swimming in the air? They don’t really have a response. Sometimes, silence speaks volumes.”

While Winston’s reporting accuracy might be questioned—he referred to a fish he caught as an amphibian and mistakenly named it—he undeniably possesses a natural comedic flair behind the microphone and should continue being himself.

The Cleveland Browns signed Winston during the offseason to serve as backup to Deshaun Watson. A former No. 1 overall pick, Winston has amassed impressive stats throughout his career, including 22,104 passing yards, 141 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions. He boasts a 34-46 record as a starter and earned a Pro Bowl nod in his rookie season in 2015.

Choosing Winston over Joe Flacco, who had a 4-1 record with the Browns toward the end of the regular season, Cleveland sees potential in Winston’s contributions. Head coach Kevin Stefanski commended Winston’s positive energy and dedication both on and off the field during voluntary offseason workouts.

Expected to take on significant responsibilities this offseason as Watson recovers from shoulder surgery, Winston’s presence in the locker room is highly valued. He looks forward to fostering a strong relationship with Watson, offering support and resources to aid in the team’s success.

Watson expressed satisfaction with the Browns’ decision to bring in Winston as the backup quarterback, praising his character and leadership qualities. Additionally, the Browns added former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley to their roster, providing depth alongside second-year QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who is recovering from a hip injury.
