Big plus for the Hogs as Top recruit de-commits from Kentucky to join John Calipari at Arkansas Razorbacks.
The impact of John Calipari was evident on Monday when a highly regarded recruit rescinded his commitment to Kentucky and instead pledged his commitment to Arkansas, where Calipari now holds the position of head coach.
Four-star prospect Karter Knox has opted to follow Calipari to Fayetteville after making an official visit to the campus. Expressing his decision, Knox emphasized his trust in Calipari’s ability to develop him into a professional player, stating, “Throughout my whole recruiting process, Coach Cal always said he wants to make me a pro, and I trust that he will do that for me at Arkansas.” He also cited his positive relationship with Coach Kenny Payne as a key factor in his decision, expressing excitement about the opportunity to play under both coaches.
Payne, the former head coach of Louisville, will be joining Calipari’s coaching staff at Arkansas for the upcoming season.
Knox, ranked No. 26 by ESPN and No. 24 overall by the On3 Industry Ranking, brings significant talent and potential to the Razorbacks.
Having spent the previous season in the Overtime Elite League, Knox showcased his skills by averaging 22.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
With Calipari’s move to Arkansas, it’s likely that more of his recruits will follow suit, drawn by the opportunity to play under his leadership.
Calipari’s departure from Kentucky to Arkansas was announced earlier this month, following discussions between him and the Razorbacks during the Final Four weekend. In a video announcing his departure, Calipari stated that the Kentucky program required a fresh perspective, emphasizing the need for a new voice to guide the team.
