Coach Hubert Davis Hot is on Recruitment: UNC Basketball inks One Transfer, set to Host Another
One of the premier marksmen in the nation during the previous season has declared his commitment to Hubert Davis and UNC basketball.
Throughout the offseason, UNC basketball head coach Hubert Davis and his coaching staff have been fervently pursuing transfers to complement next year’s roster. Despite encountering challenges in securing talented big men, they achieved success in persuading Seth Trimble to return to Chapel Hill after he entered the transfer portal.
After weeks of speculation, UNC has finally secured its inaugural true transfer commitment of the offseason, courtesy of one of the country’s elite sharpshooters.
On Sunday, Belmont transfer Cade Tyson formally announced his decision to join Davis and the Tar Heels, unveiling his commitment on social media platforms.

Tyson had been linked with the Tar Heels in recent weeks, with the 6-foot-7, 205-pound wing even receiving two 247 Crystal Ball predictions favoring UNC over a week ago.
As one of the most sought-after transfers in the market, Tyson boasted impressive statistics last season, averaging 16.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game over 31 matchups. His remarkable accuracy from beyond the arc earned him the second-highest 3-point percentage in the nation, shooting at an outstanding 46.5 percent.
The former Missouri Valley Conference Rookie of the Year holds the No. 26 spot overall in the 247Sports portal rankings and is poised to make a significant impact on the Tar Heels’ roster.
At 20 years old, Cade Tyson is anticipated to potentially secure a starting role from the outset of his tenure at UNC.
UNC basketball remains active in the transfer portal, with plans to welcome Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi, ranked No. 8 overall and No. 3 among big men in the portal, for an official visit later this week.
