The Buffalo Bills hosted free agent Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a visit recently.
Free agent Marquez Valdes-Scantling recently visited the Buffalo Bills after having a meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. The 29-year-old wide receiver, who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason, visited Buffalo on Monday evening. Valdes-Scantling had spent the previous two seasons with the Chiefs, winning a Super Bowl with the team last year, before being released to free up $12 million in salary cap space.
Having started his career with the Green Bay Packers as a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Valdes-Scantling’s recent seasons have seen varying levels of production. In 2023, he made 21 catches for 315 yards and one touchdown, while in 2022, he recorded 42 catches for 687 yards and two touchdowns. His best season statistically came in 2020 when he tallied 690 yards with six touchdowns.
Despite not boasting eye-popping numbers, Valdes-Scantling’s 6-foot-4 frame could offer the Bills a deep threat option. However, the Bills selected Keon Coleman, a receiver with a similar profile, with their top draft pick in the 2024 NFL draft, potentially signaling their intent to bolster their receiving corps further.
