Sooners transfer quarterback General Booty has committed to Louisiana-Monroe.
General Booty is heading home to continue his college football career. After entering the transfer portal on May 3rd, the former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback has found a new team at Louisiana-Monroe.
Booty has connections to nearby Shreveport, Louisiana, and he is the latest in a family with a strong football legacy in the area. His father, Abram Booty, and uncle, Josh Booty, played at LSU, while his other uncle, John David Booty, was a quarterback at USC.
Booty announced his transfer on social media, securing his new position at Monroe after two seasons with Oklahoma.
He joined the Sooners in the summer of 2022 from Tyler Junior College, where he passed for 3,410 yards and threw 27 touchdowns. During his time with the Sooners, he played in two games: against TCU in 2022 and Arkansas State in 2023. A notable long touchdown run in the 2024 Spring Game likely increased his value just before entering the transfer portal.
General Booty has gained popularity in college football over the past two years, partly due to his distinctive name. This notoriety helped him land a NIL deal with Rock ‘Em Socks, which includes his own line of boxers, briefs, and socks.
The departures of Booty and Jacob Switzer from the quarterback position this spring have reshuffled the depth chart for Brent Venables and Seth Littrell. Sophomore Jackson Arnold will be the starter, followed by Casey Thompson, Michael Hawkins Jr., and Brendan Zurbrugg.
Booty’s move to ULM makes him the latest former Sooner to find a new team via the transfer portal. Others still seeking new teams include quarterback Switzer, linebackers Shane Whitter and Konnor Near, tight end Hayden Bray, kicker Gavin Marshall, and punter Redi Mustafaraj.
