Philadelphia Eagles Expected to Have a Major Breakout Player in 2024
Looking ahead to the 2024 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles are aiming to reclaim their spot at the top of the NFC. Just two years ago, they represented the conference in the Super Bowl, and many anticipated another strong run in 2023.
However, the 2023 season didn’t go as planned for the Eagles. They began the year as strong contenders but faltered in the second half, ultimately ending their season with a Wild Card round loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. General Manager Howie Roseman has vowed to prevent a repeat of 2023, making aggressive moves to bolster the roster and coaching staff.
One significant move was signing free agent pass-rusher Bryce Huff to a three-year, $51 million contract.
Philadelphia Eagles Projected to Have a Major Breakout Player in 2024
Bleacher Report has predicted that Huff will have a breakout season for the Eagles in 2024. They noted, “If he can come anywhere near his per-snap productivity from a year ago in a larger role in his new home, 13-15 sacks are a real possibility. And if Huff wreaks that kind of havoc in 2024, the Eagles may well reclaim the NFC East.”
At 26, Huff’s addition is considered one of the most underrated moves of the offseason. The Eagles believe they have secured a potential star pass-rusher. In the 2023 season with the New York Jets, Huff recorded 29 total tackles, 10 sacks, and one defended pass. There is significant potential for further development and improvement.
Huff will need to demonstrate consistent performance with increased attention on him. While the Eagles already have an impressive defensive front, moving on from Haason Reddick has created an opportunity for Huff to step into a larger role.
It will be interesting to see if Huff can elevate his game. If he does, he could play a crucial role in determining whether the Eagles can reestablish themselves as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
