Dolphins star Jevon Holland criticizes former Miami defensive coordinator Vic Fangio after Jalen Ramsey accused the current Eagles coach of ‘misusing’ players in Miami.
Dolphins safety Jevon Holland continued to criticize former defensive coordinator Vic Fangio after his departure from Miami in January.
Following Fangio’s move to Philadelphia, Jalen Ramsey expressed strong opinions, accusing Fangio of ‘misusing’ the defense in Miami last season. This criticism came on the heels of the team’s release of Xavien Howard, whom Ramsey praised as the ‘best cornerback in Dolphins history.’
On Tuesday, Holland openly compared Fangio to new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, emphasizing the ‘complete 180’ improvement with Weaver in charge.
During a media session, Holland highlighted Weaver’s positive impact, stating, ‘It’s the fact that he’s a good person that makes a difference,’ subtly criticizing Fangio.
Jevon Holland’s recent comments mark another instance of Dolphins players expressing dissatisfaction with Fangio, who is now with the Eagles.
After Fangio’s departure, Ramsey reiterated his belief that Fangio ‘misused’ the defense. Despite these criticisms, Fangio’s defense ranked 19th in DVOA, 10th in yards allowed, and ninth in yards allowed per play during his year in Miami.
Fangio has now taken over an Eagles defense that finished 26th in yards and 30th in points allowed. While his former players voice their frustrations, Fangio has begun his new role with the Eagles during OTA sessions at NovaCare Complex.
In his introductory press conference, Fangio addressed the alleged animosity, saying, ‘I didn’t see that at all, really. Anything we do, whether there, here, or anywhere else I’ve been, is what we think is best for the team and best for the defense, specifically, to stop somebody. Wherever that falls, that’s where it falls.’
