Elite four-star athlete Nick Townsend shares his initial impressions of the Sooners.
Recently, Oklahoma joined the race for elite 2025 talent Nick Townsend, one of the nation’s top two-way playmakers. With this offer, the Sooners add their name to a list that includes 35 other programs.
According to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, Townsend is ranked as the No. 123 overall recruit in the 2025 class. He is a four-star prospect, recognized as a top-three athlete nationally and a top-20 player in Texas. However, the 247Sports Network’s experts rank him even higher, placing him at No. 103 overall in the Top247 and as the No. 18 player in Texas.
“I’m just a versatile tight end, versatile athlete,” Townsend said. “I’m just trying to find the best opportunity for me at the next level.”
Townsend has many options, with programs like Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M actively pursuing him. Although Oklahoma’s offer came later than others, Townsend is giving it serious consideration.
“I wish I would have got the offer earlier, honestly,” Townsend said with a laugh. “I would have set up a visit right away; they probably would have been first on the calendar.”
