Four-star edge Smith Orogbo discusses his interest in OU: ‘It just shows how much they want me’
Not too long ago, Smith Orogbo wasn’t even allowed to play football. Now, he has 38 offers from colleges across the country.
“I’m really blessed with these opportunities,” Orogbo said. “Most people don’t get this. It’s been hectic, but it’s something I’ll never complain about. I never thought I’d be in this position. I thought I might get a couple of offers, but never from big schools. It’s still kind of crazy to me.”
Orogbo has approached the recruitment process with grace, ensuring it doesn’t interfere with meeting the high expectations that come with such exposure.
“I’m just trying not to be distracted,” Orogbo said. “I’m working on the areas I need to improve, like my pass rush. That’s the main goal this offseason—trying to get bigger and more explosive.”
Recently, Orogbo and his teammates at Alief Hastings wrapped up their spring camp. Just before it ended, five Oklahoma assistant coaches visited to see the elite edge rusher in action.
