The New York Yankees have activated DJ LeMahieu from the injured list.

The New York Yankees have reactivated infielder DJ LeMahieu from the injured list, the team announced on Tuesday.

As anticipated, LeMahieu concluded his minor league rehab assignment over the weekend, allowing him to rejoin the Yankees for their ongoing West Coast trip.

Following a series victory over the San Diego Padres, the Yankees are set for a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels starting Tuesday, followed by a visit to the San Francisco Giants.

LeMahieu had been dealing with a non-displaced fracture after fouling a ball off his right foot during spring training. Although the Yankees initially expected him to return in April, several setbacks delayed his comeback.

With LeMahieu officially back, he will resume his regular role as the third baseman. However, he will not be reclaiming the leadoff spot, as shortstop Anthony Volpe has excelled in that position at the start of the season.

LeMahieu’s full-time return means Oswaldo Cabrera will move to the bench, and there is also a possibility that LeMahieu will occasionally fill in for Anthony Rizzo at first base.
