Despite initial uncertainties, Calipari’s Razorback roster will indeed include a returning player from the Musselman era.
Arkansas coach John Calipari will retain Trevon Brazile, an Eric Musselman holdover, for the 2024-2025 roster. After exploring options in both the NBA Draft and the transfer portal, Brazile has decided to return to the Razorbacks for his third season, the university announced on Tuesday.
Standing at 6 feet 10 inches, the senior forward will continue his tenure in Fayetteville for a third consecutive season after initially transferring from Missouri. Brazile’s previous season saw him participate in 26 games, starting 23 of them, with averages of 8.6 points and 5.9 rebounds.
With Brazile’s decision, the Arkansas roster now comprises nine players, which aligns with Calipari’s preference of having nine main scholarship players, as emphasized during the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Fla.
“We’re at eight right now,” Calipari stated in Destin. “I’m ecstatic. I’m looking for one more guy and that’s what we are going to have.”
Brazile’s return completes Calipari’s inaugural roster of nine players at the helm of the Razorbacks. Alongside Brazile, the roster features five transfers—Johnell Davis (FAU), Jonas Aidoo (Tennessee), Zvonimir Ivisic, DJ Wagner, and Adou Theiro (Kentucky)—as well as the No. 2 freshman recruiting class, including Boogie Fland, Billy Richmond, and Karter Knox, according to On3 Sports.
