Lee Briers is poised to depart from the Brisbane Broncos to take up a new coaching position.
Briers has built a strong reputation as one of the NRL’s most sought-after coaches, having played a pivotal role in the Broncos’ transformation under Kevin Walters.
There has been speculation for some time about Briers returning to the Super League as a head coach, with links to various vacant coaching positions since his move to Australia.
However, Briers is now poised to extend his tenure in Australia by joining Bennett at South Sydney in 2025.
According to reports from The Daily Telegraph, Briers is enthusiastic about the opportunity to work under Bennett and further his coaching development, with suggestions that he could potentially become a head coach in the future when Bennett steps aside.
This development comes as Brisbane faces the loss of two key members of its coaching staff within a short span. Walters’ other assistant coach, John Cartwright, is departing the Broncos to assume the head coach role at Hull FC.
It appears that Briers is also set to depart, with a move to another NRL club on the horizon.
