Gaeckle and Fisher Named Freshman All-Americans by NCBWA.

Arkansas’ Gabe Gaeckle and Colin Fisher have been honored as Freshman All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Gaeckle received first-team recognition as a relief pitcher, while Fisher earned second-team honors as a starting pitcher. They are the 27th and 28th Freshman All-Americans in Arkansas’ program history, following pitchers Hagen Smith and Brady Tygart, who were recognized in 2022.

Gaeckle emerged as the team’s most reliable bullpen pitcher during the 2024 season. He became the fifth Arkansas freshman pitcher since 2003 to record five or more saves in a season. The right-hander from Aptos, California, who was also named to the Freshman All-SEC Team, finished the season with a 3-3 record, a team-leading seven saves (including six multi-inning saves), a 2.32 ERA, and 57 strikeouts in 42.2 innings over 22 relief appearances.

Fisher, from Noble, Oklahoma, established himself as the Razorbacks’ No. 4 starter before a season-ending injury. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week once and had a strong rookie season, finishing with a 6-1 record, a 2.67 ERA, and 27 strikeouts in 27.0 innings over 10 appearances, including seven starts.
