The selection of tight end Brock Bowers by the Las Vegas Raiders with the No. 13 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was one of the first major upsets. The fact that Bowers was still available surprised us, as did the fact that Las Vegas would pursue him after adding Michael Mayer with a second-round choice the previous season.
In an episode of “NFL Draft: The Pick Is In” on Roku Channel on June 14, it was disclosed that the Raiders had the option to add a second-round pick and trade down if they so desired. Though they were stranded at No. 19 in the first round, the Los Angeles Rams gave it their all in an attempt to get Bowers. As a result, general manager Les Snead called the general manager of the Raiders.
