Ex-Oklahoma Infielder Reveals New Team.

Avery Hodge, who spent two years playing under Patty Gasso at Oklahoma, has announced her transfer to LSU. The infielder shared her decision on Instagram on Thursday.

During the 2024 Women’s College World Series, Hodge stepped into a full-time starting role after Alynah Torres’ injury, hitting 4-for-12. Over the season, she achieved a .284 batting average with nine RBIs, five doubles, 11 walks, and nine strikeouts in 74 at-bats.

Primarily known for her defense at second base when Torres was healthy, Hodge entered the transfer portal along with Quincee Lilio and SJ Geurin shortly after the Sooners won their fourth consecutive national title.

Oklahoma is set to rebuild in 2025 with eight talented freshmen joining their eight returning players. Additionally, Gasso and her coaching staff can make five transfers.
