Alynah Torres has joined the OKC Spark after signing a contract with the team.
Supporters of Alynah Torres will be pleased to know they won’t need to travel far to follow her continued softball journey. The former Oklahoma Sooners utility player, who started 47 games this spring and won two national championships with OU, has signed a contract to join the Oklahoma City Spark for the 2024 season. The team announced this via Twitter on Monday.
The Spark’s first home game, scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Devon Park, where Torres had an impressive collegiate record of 23 wins out of 24 games, will see them facing Great Britain.
During her time with the Sooners, Torres achieved a batting average of .331 and maintained a stellar .993 fielding percentage. She contributed significantly to Oklahoma’s fourth consecutive national championship, tallying 42 hits and 46 RBI.
Starting 43 games in 2023 with a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage and a .350 batting average after transferring from Arizona State, Torres originally hails from Glendale, Arizona. Her high school career at Cactus High School was distinguished by four All-Arizona selections.
Recently, former Sooner teammates Rylie Boone, Jayda Coleman, and Kinzie Hansen made their debut for the Spark at the Coca-Cola Scenic City Pro Cup in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
