Oklahoma recruits a former shortstop from the Big 12.

Patty Gasso significantly bolstered her infield with a key addition on Tuesday.

Ailana Agbayani, formerly of BYU, announced her commitment to the Sooners through Instagram this past Tuesday.

Agbayani, a sophomore who also pitched for the Cougars in moments of need last season, led her team with an impressive .424 batting average in 2024. Her ability to draw 30 walks contributed to a formidable .534 on-base percentage. Known for her speed on the bases, Agbayani tallied nine doubles, two triples, and launched five home runs. She successfully stole 12 bases out of 15 attempts.

On the mound, Agbayani, a right-hander, logged 23 innings with a 5.78 ERA.

Familiar with Love’s Field, Agbayani played a pivotal role in BYU’s victory over OU in Norman on April 12, going 4-for-5 at the plate and driving in two crucial RBIs.

Agbayani marks Gasso’s third acquisition from the transfer portal, joining Isabela Emerling, a former catcher from North Carolina, and Abby Dayton, an outfielder from Utah.

With two spots remaining to be filled via the portal, Oklahoma is focused on adding pitchers to its roster.
