Tennessee baseball has acquired another top-tier pitcher via the transfer portal.
Tennessee baseball is making significant waves in the transfer portal this July, with Coach Tony Vitello actively recruiting. The team has bolstered its pitching staff with multiple new arms and added a couple of top-tier hitters for the upcoming 2025 season.
Looking to defend their championship title alongside returning players and recruits from the 2024 portal class, Tennessee has secured commitments from several talented players. Among them is junior college pitcher Brandon Arvidson, who originally committed to Texas from San Jacinto Community College but changed course following coaching changes.
Arvidson expressed his commitment to Tennessee via social media, stating, “Excited to announce my commitment to The University of Tennessee.” The left-handed pitcher from Dripping Springs, Texas, had an impressive season, pitching 60.0 innings with 108 strikeouts and a 3.84 ERA, holding opponents to a .173 batting average.
Arvidson led college baseball in strikeouts per nine innings with an average of 15.93, highlighting his dominance on the mound. His addition is a significant boost for Tennessee, which has also secured commitments from pitchers Liam Doyle of Ole Miss and Tanner Franklin from Kennesaw State.
With six new players, including three pitchers, recruited from the transfer portal, Tennessee’s baseball program under Vitello’s leadership continues to build momentum following their first national championship win earlier this summer.
