The proposed trade sees the 49ers sending Brandon Aiyuk to the Vikings.

It’s highly unlikely that the San Francisco 49ers will agree to honor wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s recent trade request. Aiyuk’s sudden request, which comes late in the offseason amidst his contract extension negotiations, appears to be more of a tactic to push the Niners into finalizing a long-term deal that keeps him in the Bay Area.

Considering Aiyuk is under contract through 2024 and could potentially receive the franchise tag for two additional seasons, it doesn’t make much sense for San Francisco to part ways with their top pass catcher from the past two seasons, especially as they are focused on a Super Bowl run.

However, situations can deteriorate to the point where a trade becomes necessary. If the 49ers do decide to move Aiyuk, they would need to receive someone in return who can immediately contribute.

A speculative trade proposal by our FanSided affiliate, The Viking Age, suggests an intriguing scenario between the 49ers and Minnesota Vikings.
