Auburn’s standout running back, recognized as All-SEC, is poised for a significant upcoming season.

Jarquez Hunter of the Auburn Tigers stands out not only as one of the top running backs in the SEC but across the nation. At this week’s Media Days, Hunter earned first-team All-SEC honors. Despite being listed at 5’10 and 209 pounds, Hunter plays with a physicality that exceeds his size. Since joining Auburn in 2021, the Mississippi native has steadily increased his rushing yardage each season: starting with 593 yards as a freshman, followed by 668 yards his sophomore year, and a career-high 909 yards and 7 touchdowns last season.

Hunter possesses numerous attributes that distinguish him as one of the nation’s premier between-the-tackles runners. His exceptional ability to maneuver through tight spaces and patiently await blocking opportunities sets him apart. Additionally, Hunter combines speed and agility, capable of outrunning defenders and executing sharp cuts effortlessly. Notably, he recorded long runs of 42, 50, 53, 67 yards, and a 94-yarder during his freshman campaign.

Beyond his athleticism, Hunter surprises many with his physical running style, allowing him to break tackles and gain extra yards while maintaining high levels of endurance throughout games. Averaging an impressive 5.7 yards per carry, Hunter also contributes significantly as a receiver out of the backfield, adding a dual-threat dimension to his game that NFL scouts highly value. Over his Auburn career, he has accumulated 47 receptions for 403 yards.

Moreover, Hunter’s leadership both on and off the field proves invaluable for the Tigers, consistently making significant contributions to their offensive success. His versatility as a playmaker simplifies the tasks for quarterbacks and offensive coordinators alike, ensuring Auburn’s offense performs effectively whenever he is on the field.
