Georgia football dismisses WR Rara Thomas following recent arrest
Georgia football has made their decision on wide receiver Rara Thomas following his recent arrest for domestic violence.
Head coach Kirby Smart announced at the start of Thursday’s press conference that Thomas has been dismissed from the team.
“He can no longer be part of the football team,” Smart said, adding that he met with Thomas face-to-face. “He understands that. We wish him the best moving forward.”
Thomas was arrested last Friday morning on charges of second-degree cruelty to children and family violence battery. Thomas was released on a $3,500 bond on Tuesday.
His Friday arrest marked the second time he was arrested on family violence charges, though the first charges were ultimately dropped and he did not miss any playing time.
In his lone season with the Bulldogs, the former Mississippi State transfer caught 23 passes for 383 yards and one touchdown in 202
We’ve got a lot of guys that are pass-catchers back,” Smart said. “We have depth at the top. We’ve got to find more guys that can contribute in that room”
Today marks the first day of fall camp for the Bulldogs as they get prepped and ready to take on the Clemson Tigers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on August 31.
