great Peter Daicos has shared his disappointment at the club “being dragged into” a fresh racism saga in the week of Scott Pendlebury’s 400th game.

 

The reigning AFL premiers, and most notably CEO Craig Kelly, are facing serious allegations filed in court by the club’s former head of First Nations strategy Mark Cleaver.

The story unfolded just as the Pies began to ramp up their celebrations for Pendlebury’s milestone game against Carlton at the MCG on Saturday night, when their finals hopes will also be on the line.

“For mine definitely in the modern era the best player that’s been at Collingwood,” Daicos told Sunrise.

The 1990 flag hero, and father of 2023 premiership winners Nick and Josh, said the racism allegations had not been “a good start” to the week.

Daicos and Kelly are premiership teammates and reconnected at the club when Kelly took over as chief executive after Nick and Josh established themselves as Pies stars.

Speaking on Sunrise, Daicos was aggrieved that the court case focusing on Kelly’s alleged conduct has put the spotlight on Collingwood.
