Former Detroit Lions defensive lineman joins the San Francisco 49ers.

Nick Williams, a former starting defensive lineman for the Detroit Lions, is heading to his third team in as many years. The 34-year-old has signed with the San Francisco 49ers, where he will join fellow ex-Lions starter Tracy Walker in the Bay Area.

Williams was brought to the Lions as part of the last free-agent group signed under Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia. Over two seasons with Detroit, he started 30 games under two different coaching regimes. However, since then, he has made just 13 starts in two years with the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers.
