Russell Wilson will make his preseason debut for the Steelers against the Bills.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is set to make his preseason debut for the Steelers against the Bills on Saturday night, according to coach Mike Tomlin. Tomlin, who spoke after Thursday’s joint practice with the Bills, indicated that Wilson will “participate” in the team’s second preseason game, provided he doesn’t have any setbacks with the calf injury he sustained before the first training camp session.
During the joint practice, Wilson shared first-team reps with Justin Fields and mentioned Wednesday that he isn’t worried about worsening his calf injury if he plays in the preseason.
“I don’t play with fear,” Wilson stated. “I never have. You play smart, just like in a regular game. You need to know when to get down, slide, or go out of bounds. I understand how to avoid certain hits and situations. But when I put on the pads, I don’t approach the game with fear. Anyone who knows me understands that I’m not that way. So, if I’m cleared to play, I’ll be ready to go.”
