Lyon are currently rock-bottom of Ligue 1 having won just once so far this season. Their latest defeat came in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Lens, just days after sacking boss Fabio Grosso, who only took charge of the club in September.

Despite a win at Rennes last month, it was hoped Les Gones would find some form to pull them away form the drop zone, but back-to-back defeats have killed any hopes of a shift in momentum.

The concert which sees the American pop star perform on her Eras Tour is scheduled to take place at the 59,000-seater stadium, on the assumption that Lyon would be sitting pretty in the Ligue 1 standings.

Instead, the seven-time French champions could be involved in the play-off if they improve upon their current position and finish the season in 16th place.

The possible scenario would see Lyon face a two-legged play-off with the promotion play-off winner between Ligue 2’s third, fourth and fifth-placed sides.

The second leg would take place at the Groupama Stadium on June 2 – the day Swift is due to take to the stage.

The 12-time Grammy award winning artist is set to perform in front of a packed crowd in Lyon in what will generate much-needed funds for the club, who have complete ownership of the stadium.
