Many athletes enjoy a glamorous lifestyle during their careers but often face financial challenges after retirement.

Learning from these experiences, MahomesÂhas strategically invested in various business ventures, creating an impressive 70-million-dollar portfolio.

Patrick Mahomes initially focused investments on sport

In 2021, MahomesÂacquired a stake in Sporting Kansas City, a Major League Soccer team, joining their ownership group.

The following year, he expanded his sports investments by purchasing a stake in the Miami Pickleball Club, part of Major League Pickleball. This ownership group includes notable tennis players like Naomi OsakaÂand Nick Kyrgios. His investments in diverse sports don’t end there.

In 2023, MahomesÂand his wife bought stakes in Kansas City Current, a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) franchise.

However, his largest sports investment came in October 2023 when he joined an ownership group for Alpine Racing, a Formula 1 team.

This group features well-known sports figures such as Rory McIlroyÂand Anthony Joshua, along with actors Ryan ReynoldsÂand Rob McElhenney. Mahomes was drawn to the growing popularity of F1, but his ultimate goal is to own an NFL team.

Though current NFL players are prohibited from holding stakes in teams, MahomesÂis looking to the future in this regard.

“Eventually, when I’m done playing, I want to give back to the sport I love,” MahomesÂadmitted.

Mahomes’ investments aren’t limited to athletic endeavors

Beyond sports, MahomesÂhas invested in food and wellness brands. In May 2024, he launched his own coffee brand, Throne Sport Coffee.

His dedication to the brand was evident as he actively participated in research, product development, and flavor testing. He believes Throne Sport Coffee offers a unique blend of electrolytes and vitamins, setting it apart from other coffee brands.

Mahomes’ love for burgers also plays a role in his investment portfolio. As a fan of Whataburger, a Texas-based fast-food chain, he invested in the brand and helped open its first restaurant in Kansas City.

MahomesÂhas expressed his admiration for the brand, citing its world-class burgers and exceptional ketchup.

Mahomes‘ business ventures also extend into the health and fitness sector. He invested in Hyperice, a company that produces massage tools designed to aid muscle recovery.

Additionally, he has backed Whoop, a wearable fitness tracker that monitors athletic performance. These investments reflect Mahomes‘ forward-thinking approach as he prepares for life after football.
