On Chelsea winger Madueke – who scored a hat-trick in a 6-2 win at Wolves on Sunday – Carsley added: ‘He has done really well for the U21s and I think he will be really important in this camp.
‘He will bring energy. we are coming off the back of a losing final and may need an injection of energy and enthusiasm. The new players will bring that.’
Maddison has been capped seven times at senior international level since making his Three Lions debut in 2019.
