Sha’Carri Richardson has a stadium named in her honor.
Sha’Carri Richardson was recently honored with a track named after her at John Kincaide Stadium in Dallas, an experience she found humbling. The reigning 100m world champion promised to represent Dallas with pride on the global stage.
Following her impressive accomplishments last season, plans were made to honor the Olympic silver medalist with the track naming, though the ceremony’s timing was uncertain until her recent visit to her hometown.
After winning two gold medals and a bronze at the World Championships in Budapest, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees officially renamed the track the “Sha’Carri Richardson Track.”
In her speech at the ceremony, Richardson expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support she has received from the Dallas community. She reflected on her early career in the city, recognizing its significant role in her journey to international success.
“I thank you all for your support, and I’m proud to have come out of ISD. It’s a huge honor to have a track named after me, but it also comes with a responsibility to Dallas. I will always remember where I came from, and that’s Dallas,” Richardson stated.
