Arkansas Football’s Rushing Attack Falters in Lopsided Defeat to LSU

In a disappointing showing, Arkansas football struggled on the ground in a lopsided loss to LSU, falling 45-17 in Baton Rouge on Saturday. The Razorbacks, known for their usually potent rushing attack, managed only a paltry 102 yards on the ground, well below their season average.

Facing a relentless LSU defense, Arkansas could not find any rhythm in the run game, with key running backs being neutralized at the line of scrimmage. Despite efforts to establish the ground game early, the Razorbacks found themselves trailing quickly, forcing them to rely on the passing game—a strategy that didn’t yield much success against the Tigers’ suffocating pass rush.

Head coach Sam Pittman acknowledged the team’s struggle to gain traction in the rushing department, stating, “We just couldn’t get our running game going today. LSU’s defense played physical and made it difficult for us to find any gaps.”

Leading rusher Raheim Sanders, who had averaged solid numbers in previous outings, was held to just 45 yards on 14 carries. The offensive line, which has been solid for Arkansas throughout the season, was overwhelmed by LSU’s defensive front, led by standout linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. and defensive lineman Maason Smith.

On the other side, LSU’s offense, led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, shredded Arkansas’ defense with 325 passing yards and 180 rushing yards. Arkansas was unable to contain LSU’s dual-threat attack, leading to their downfall.

The loss drops Arkansas to 2-5 on the season, with their hopes of climbing in the SEC standings diminishing. For a team that relies heavily on its rushing identity, finding solutions to their ground game woes will be critical as they prepare for their next SEC matchup.

With upcoming games against tough opponents, including Alabama and Ole Miss, Arkansas must regroup quickly to avoid further slides. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if the Razorbacks can reignite their rushing attack and restore the form that made them competitive earlier in the season.
