Leeds United’s bid to sign an attacking midfielder in the summer ended up in failure, despite being linked with a whole host of no.10’s to rival Brenden Aaronson for a place in the side.
Due in large part to the lack of competition for the returning USA star, Aaronson has continued to be one of the first names on the squad sheet under Daniel Farke. In 16 games for the Yorkshire team, he has four goals.
Aaronson made a strong comeback, but according to Jon Newsome, he is barely surviving. Simon Grayson has questioned Aaronson’s final product, while Newsome believes it isn’t good enough for a player who costs £25 million.
Leeds would have signed a number ten if they had their way. Leeds reportedly expressed interest in signing James McAtee from Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola told McAtee to remain at City, according to Angus Kinnear.
