The Iowa women’s basketball team improved to 5-0 Wednesday with a 71-58 win over Kansas at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Hannah Stuelke and Lucy Olsen led the Hawkeyes with 16 points each. Stuelke added 10 rebounds for her fifth career double-double.

Stuelke and Olsen combined for 19 of Iowa’s 38 points in the first half, and the Hawks built an 11-point lead at the break.

The Hawkeyes return to Carver-Hawkeye Arena to host Washington State on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Iowa women’s basketball put on a defensive clinic, holding Washington State to 27 percent shooting and 20 turnovers in the 72-43 home victory on Sunday.

Such a defensive effort inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena has been and will be crucial to the Hawkeyes’ success this year as, now 6-0, they continue to show the collegiate women’s basketball world they can compete.
