The Brendan Sorsby era of Cincinnati Bearcats football started off strong.
Sorsby led the Bearcats to a 38-20 victory after a 22-for-31 passing day with 383 yards and two touchdowns with two
more additional rushing touchdowns. Xzavier Henderson caught seven balls for 101 yards and a score and Joe Royer
was right behind with five completions for 89 yards. Evan Pryor rushed four
times and had 105 yards, including his 64-yard scoring run. In total, the Bearcats had 658 yards of total offense.
Towson was more than capable of hanging around, accumulating 425 yards of offense. Towson quarterback Carlos Davis was 20-for-36 passing for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Jaceon Doss caught two passes, one for a touchdown, for a team-high 74 yards.
The Bearcats had the victory while losing the turnover battle 3-1, all three turnovers coming by way of fumbles. The experience offensive line for the Bearcats didn’t allow a single sack during the game.
Cincinnati gained possession with a turnover on downs with 2:36 left in the game.
Backup quarterback Brady Lichtenberg took over signal calling duties for the Bearcats just before the two-minute timeout, ending Brendan Sorsby’s day with the victory within reach.
