“Obviously a phenomenal game last week,” Huff said. “I haven’t been in this league very long, but I would probably say it goes down as one of the most
exciting games in this conference with what was on the line and two teams fighting. I’m really proud of our players for the way they continued to battle and
believe and allowed us to go play for what every team in the country started their season off for, which was an opportunity to win a championship.”
BIG GREEN
As Marshall takes on Louisiana for the conference championship, Ragin’ Cajuns coach Michael Desormeaux is particularly wary of facing the Herd’s Mike Green, who ranks second in the country with 16 sacks.
Green, a Virginia transfer, has been particularly effective for Marshall, not just getting to the quarterback, but also as a tackler all over the field, making 35 solo stops as a defensive lineman.
“He’s probably the most unique player in the league,” Desormeaux said. “He’s big, he’s long, he’s twitched up. I think he’s physical and has a multitude of moves.
He can beat you with speed. He’s got that Euro step down that everybody’s doing a little bit. He’s a problem. No one has had success blocking him one-on-one yet.”
The Cajuns will host Marshall on Saturday at 7:30 with the Sun Belt Championship broadcast on ESPN.
