Kerr Kriisa discussed his choice to play for Mark Pope.
Kentucky’s new head basketball coach, Mark Pope, has long been pursuing Kerr Kriisa, and he finally succeeded in bringing the talented guard to Kentucky.
Kriisa played three years at Arizona and spent last season at West Virginia. He will now complete his college basketball career with the Kentucky Wildcats.
Coach Pope admires Kriisa’s fearless mentality, evidenced by Kriisa’s trash-talking with NBA star Luka Doncic.
Last season at WVU, Kriisa averaged a career-high 11 points per game, along with 2.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists, and shot a career-best 42.4% from three-point range.
Kriisa spoke about his decision to join Coach Pope at Kentucky on BBN Tonight, saying, “I have a bit of history with Pope already. He’s been recruiting me for a while. When he called this time, our conversation lasted maybe two and a half minutes. We didn’t discuss my role or minutes. He was like, you know me, I know you, let’s get it done. That’s all it took.”
Coach Pope seems to have a strong connection with Kriisa and is fostering a positive culture within the Kentucky basketball program. Kriisa is expected to be the first guard off the bench, providing significant scoring and playmaking while the starters rest.
