Arthur Kaluma, formerly of Kansas State, has signed to play basketball at Texas.
Arthur Kaluma declared for the NBA draft before his senior season, leading Kansas State to believe he wouldn’t be returning to the team this year. The Wildcats would have liked to retain him, considering he was their top rebounder, averaging seven rebounds per game, and ranked third in scoring with 14.4 points per game. He also brought extensive college experience to the table.
Ultimately, Kaluma withdrew from the NBA draft and began exploring options to transfer to a new school for his final season. Recently, Texas head coach Rodney Terry announced Kaluma’s signing with the Longhorns.
Texas gains a seasoned forward who has competed against strong opponents throughout his collegiate career. Kaluma spent two seasons at Creighton before transferring to Kansas State. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 225 pounds, he played 101 games (99 starts), tallying 1,233 points and 619 rebounds over three seasons, averaging 30.2 minutes per game. He shot 43.1% from the field and 72.8% from the free-throw line during this time.
Kaluma has recorded double-digit scoring in 68 games, including ten games with over 20 points, and has nine double-digit rebounding performances with eight career double-doubles. He has one remaining year of eligibility in college.
