Mississippi State has revealed its lineup for SEC Media Days.
In 2024, Mississippi State football will see significant changes with several new additions. Former Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby will take on his first head coaching role, marking a notable transition for the program.
The Southeastern Conference is also experiencing substantial transformation with the inclusion of Texas and Oklahoma. As SEC Media Days approach, signaling the start of “talking season,” anticipation for the upcoming football season is building.
Each of the 16 SEC teams will send three players to represent their school, and selecting Mississippi State’s representatives was challenging. However, it was announced today that one of the most prominent newcomers, Blake Shapen, will represent the Bulldogs.
Shapen, who spent the past four seasons at Baylor and was a frequent starter when healthy, impressed during the MSU spring game. The Shreveport, Louisiana native appears ready to lead the offense under Lebby’s guidance.
Joining Shapen as an offensive representative is veteran Albert Reese IV, a towering 6-foot-7, 320-pound offensive lineman who garnered significant first-team reps during the spring game. Entering his junior year, Reese is poised to make a substantial impact for the Bulldogs this season.
Defensively, the lone representative from MSU will be John Lewis, a native of Canton, Mississippi. Lewis, a former 4-star recruit, possesses the physical attributes to excel in the competitive SEC. While he has seen playing time in previous seasons, he is looking to elevate his performance under new defensive coordinator Coleman Hutzler. Hutzler’s system is expected to provide Lewis with more opportunities to showcase his abilities, particularly as a pass rusher.
Mississippi State’s representatives will take the stage on Wednesday, July 17th, in Dallas, Texas, during SEC Media Days.
