K-State Guard Dug McDaniel Displays His Personality While Mic’d Up During Recent Workout.

When a college basketball player is mic’d up during a summer workout, anything can happen.

Some of the conversation revolves around serious basketball topics, while other moments are lighthearted. Listening to a few minutes with Kansas State junior guard Dug McDaniel provides insight into his personality on the court.

“Everyone is trying to talk. They never talk this much,” McDaniel noted in a segment on the official K-State Sports YouTube channel.

A transfer from Michigan, McDaniel is one of ten new players on the Wildcats’ 2024-25 roster.

YouTube is a great way for K-State fans to get a preview of the personalities of the new players before the season kicks off.

Standing at 5-foot-11, McDaniel is expected to be a vital asset in helping K-State improve on last season’s 19-15 record. Last year at Michigan, he averaged 16.3 points and 4.7 assists per game.

During one workout exchange, McDaniel showcased his leadership skills. “Don’t be robots. Be basketball players,” he advised his teammates.

He also displayed his sense of humor, saying, “I need a haircut. I look bad. They caught me on an off day. It’s all good. I’m getting my hair cut today.”

After scoring a basket in the paint, he reminded his teammates that he had practiced that shot earlier in the day.

K-State Sports will likely share more videos like this one on YouTube, as coach Jerome Tang has recruited several exciting new players, including McDaniel and forward Coleman Hawkins, that Wildcat fans will want to learn more about before the season begins.
