Just a few days ago, Mahomes, along with his wife Brittany, contributed $5 million to Texas Tech University’s football program. This donation is a critical piece
of the $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project, aimed at enhancing the university’s athletic facilities. In addition
to this, Mahomes partnered with Adidas to introduce the inaugural “Team Mahomes” NIL class, signing six Texas Tech student-athletes to NIL deals. “The energy around this partnership has been
incredible, and this announcement shows just how important this is to me, adidas and Texas Tech,” said Patrick Mahomes.
These athletes, including Micah Hudson (football), NiJaree Canady (softball), and Jasmine Shavers (basketball), will take
part in brand marketing campaigns, including those for Mahomes’ Adidas line. Mahomes’ ongoing commitment to
his alma mater is evident not only through his financial contributions but also through his efforts to elevate the
profile of Texas Tech athletes. This partnership with Adidas is part of a broader initiative to invest in student-
athletes, with over 12,000 athletes already involved in similar programs across the country.
Mahomes’ attitude and initiative should be an example for future generations, as
Kobe Bryant said “Leave the game better than you found it and when it comes time for you to leave, leave a legend”.
With all the tools and resources available to these athletes, although it is not their obligation, helping shows the desire to sow a better future.
